German pinschers are an AKC registerable breed.  Good
breeders abiding by the ethics of the
German Pinscher club of
America will health test all of their breeding dogs for inherited
health problems.

Currently our club is asking breeders to test eyes, hips, hearts,
and for
vWD. -- All of our dogs are properly health tested  with
excellent results.

Please make sure any breeder you contact at least does the
minimum health testing on their dogs, and ask for proof!!!

Follow the links on my site for more information, you can also
find how to look up the parents health testing results yourself.
Buyer Beware!!!-
German Pinschers are an AKC recognised breed, and are registerable with
the American Kennel Club.

Any other registry will accept AKC paperwork- the AKC will only accept
registrations or pedigrees from recognised registries - Like the Canadian
Kennel Club, etc.  NOT- from the 'pet registries' .(APRI, etc.) Even if someone
registers with the UKC, their dogs should also be registered with the AKC or
Canadian Kennel Club also, if not- ask why not!  If they cannot be registered
with their  countries official registries-there typically is a good reason.

If a dog is not from AKC registered parents, or another
acceptable true
registry, they cannot ever be AKC registered.  - yet people are charging real
money for these unregisterable dogs. Don't be fooled!!!

A Word on the Blue German Pinschers- Blue German Pinschers are not a
rare color (much sought after).  They are a diluted version of the black and
tans.  The reason they are less common is because many people will test for
the dilute gene and work hard to avoid having them.  Most countries do not
allow this color.  They are very prone to dilute color alopecia ( they lose their
hair and are often bald and scabby).  Health reasons is the main reason
most people try to avoid this color.  Its not that its hard to get or anything

There are tests that breeders use to avoid breeding dilute carriers together-
this is why they are not common!
